El Belisario

This is a wine that comes from one of the oldest vineyards in the whole of La Rioja. It is without doubt one of the finest top-end wines Bodegas Tierra make. It will be a genuine pleasure and a delight for the senses, pairing as happily with hearty dishes as with a long afternoon over a few simple nuts or chocolates. It will also work wonderfully as a meditation wine, and will be a magnificent companion to good conversation, or simply to your own thoughts.

Winemaking

The grapes come from a single plot, the Pago Cuba Negra. Planted in 1910, on shallow sandy soil with a great deal of rock and a southerly aspect, this is one of the most distinctive vineyards in Labastida and one of the oldest in the whole of La Rioja. Manual selection both in the field and in the winery. The alcoholic fermentation then takes place in a French oak vat, with the malolactic and the ageing in a new 600-litre French oak barrel for twenty-four months.
